More than 30 flights, both domestic and international, were delayed at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport' on Wednesday morning, as a layer of dense fog engulfed areas in and around the Indian capital.

Besides, as many as 22 trains were also delayed from various railway stations in Delhi due to low visibility.

Visibility was reduced to less than 50 meters in several areas, leading to the early morning commuters putting on blinkers while driving on roads.

Reports of dense fog and delayed flights came in from other airports too. Private airline SpiceJet tweeted this morning, "Due to bad weather at Varanasi all departures/arrivals and their consequential flights might get affected. Passengers are requested to keep a check on their flight status."

Varanasi is a town in the country's northern state of Uttar Pradesh.

Meanwhile, fresh snowfall has been reported from several areas in the country's hilly states of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand, and also in India-controlled Kashmir. Flights from the Srinagar Airport, in India-controlled Kashmir, have been disrupted and delayed for the past several days, leading to a large number of passengers stranded in the Valley.
