NDO – Party and State leader Nguyen Phu Trong chairing a meeting of the sub-committee on the 13th Party Congress documents is one of prominent events that made the headlines over the past week.

Party General Secretary and President Nguyen Phu Trong chaired a meeting of the sub-committee in charge of compiling documents for the 13th National Party Congress.

The meeting aimed to collect opinions on the draft Political Report and draft Report on the 10-year Implementation of the Platform on national construction in the period of transition to socialism (revised and supplemented in 2011), or Platform 2011 in short.

Opinions contributed to the two draft documents will be studied and necessary adjustments made so that the two draft documents can be submitted to the Politburo, and later to the 11th meeting of the Party Central Committee.

Vietnam’s 74th National Day marked nationwide, abroad

Various activities were held nationwide and abroad to celebrate the anniversary of Vietnam’s National Day (September 2, 1945-2019).

In addition, leaders of foreign countries extended their congratulations to the Vietnamese Party and State leaders on the occasion.

Vietnam takes over as chair of ASEAN Young Entrepreneurs Association

Vietnam has taken over the chairmanship of the ASEAN Young Entrepreneurs Association in 2020 from Thailand.

The 4th ASEAN Young Entrepreneurs Carnival was successfully organised in Bangkok, Thailand, from September 2-3, attracting the participation of over 500 young business leaders from 10 ASEAN countries and some other countries.

Over 24 million students nationwide enter new academic year

More than 24 million students across the country began the 2019-2020 academic year following brief and solemn ceremonies without balloons.

The ceremonies took place saluting the national flag, singing the national anthem, reading the State President’s letter on the occasion, beating drums, and with a series of musical performances and sport events.

On the occasion, many Party and State leaders attended the ceremonies to share new school year’s joy with students nationwide.

Vietnamese students won three golds at IOM 2019

Vietnamese students achieved impressive results for the first time participating in the 4th Olympiad of Metropolises 2019 with three gold medals, three silver medals, and two bronze medals.

The delegation also won the silver cup for the team and reached the Top 3 best cities in the category of Blitz-contest.

Vietnam team participated in the event with eight 12th graders from Hanoi - Amsterdam High School competing in four subjects: Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Informatics (two students per subject).

Hoi An and My Son celebrate 20 years of UNESCO recognition

A ceremony was held in the central province of Quang Nam on September 8 to celebrate the 20th anniversary of UNESCO’s recognition of Hoi An and My Son as World Heritage sites in 1999, with the presence of Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc.

The two heritage sites, along with the world biosphere reserve site of the Cham Islands in the province, are typical examples of the heritage preservation and biodiversity conservation in Vietnam and the world.

Vietnam plays out goalless draw against Thailand at World Cup qualifiers

Vietnam held hosts Thailand to a goalless draw in their Group G opener in the second round of the 2022 World Cup AFC qualifiers, at Thammasat Stadium in Rangsit, Pathum Thani, on September 5.

The goalless away draw could be considered a success for Park Hang-seo’s side. The Golden Dragons will have the upper hand, in terms of psychology, as they host the War Elephants at My Dinh Stadium in Hanoi on November 19.

Bike Life Dong Nai triumphs VTV int’l cycling tournament

Cyclists Loic Desriac and Jordan Parra, members of the Bike Life Dong Nai team, secured the yellow and green jerseys, respectively, at the VTV International Cycling Tournament - Ton Hoa Sen Cup.

They were followed by Javier Perez of the VUS Ho Chi Minh City team and Quang Van Cuong of the Loc Troi Group crew.
