UN Day of Vesak 2019 opens in Ha Nam province

The 16th United Nation Day of Vesak 2019 officially opened at Tam Chuc Pagoda in Kim Bang district, the northern province of Ha Nam.

The opening ceremony featured the participation of more than 1,650 international delegates from 112 countries and territories across the world and over 20,000 Vietnamese Buddhist dignitaries, monks, nuns and followers.

This is the third time Vietnam has hosted the UN Vesak celebrations, helping to improve Vietnamese Buddhism’s role in international integration and affirm Vietnam's position and responsibility for UN activities in all fields.

Nepalese PM pays official visit Vietnam and attends UN Vesak Day

Nepalese Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, his spouse and a high-ranking delegation paid an official visit to Vietnam from May 9-13 and attended the UN Day of Vesak at the invitation of Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc.

During his stay in Vietnam, he held talks with Vietnamese PM Phuc and met with Myanmar President Win Myint.

On the occasion, Vietnam and Nepal issued a joint statement.

Fitch raises Vietnam’s Outlook from ‘stable’ to ‘positive’

The credit rating agency Fitch Ratings has revised Vietnam’s Outlook from ‘stable’ to ‘positive’.

According to Fitch, the Government of Vietnam has continued their commitment to curb and reduce debts, with government debt decreasing to 50.5% of GDP in 2018 from a peak of 53% in 2016. The agency also expects that the ratio will further reduce to 46% by 2020.

Vietnamese students won two silver medals, five bronzes and one certificate of merit at the 20th Asian Physics Olympiad, which concluded in Australia.

With the medal haul, Vietnam ranked fifth in the medal tally at the annual physics event for high school students in the region.

VTV9-Binh Dien Int’l Women's Volleyball Tournament opens

The VTV9-Binh Dien International Women's Volleyball Tournament is taking place in Rach Gia city in the southern province of Kien Giang.

The nine-day event attracted the participation of eight teams, including four of Vietnam, and four from China, Thailand and the US.

National Tourism Year kicks off in Nha Trang city

The National Tourism Year 2019 and Nha Trang Sea Festival officially opened in the south central coastal city of Nha Trang, Khanh Hoa province.

The main events are being held at the April 2 Square in Nha Trang city, while as many as 50 other cultural, art and sporting programmes, tourism promotion events, seminars and fairs will take place in the city and several other localities in Khanh Hoa province.

LH-Wao tops Robocon Vietnam 2019

The Lac Hong University’s LH-Wao team successfully overcame 31 other competitors to become winner at the Robocon Vietnam 2019 final in Hai Duong province.

The second prize was presented to SKH3 team of Hung Yen University of Technical Education while two third prizes went to Sao Do Legend from Sao Do Hai Duong University and DCN-DT3 from Hanoi University of Industry.
