NDO – The Vietnam women’s national football team officially convened at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Centre on October 10 to prepare for their title defence campaign at the upcoming 30th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games in the Philippines later next month.

Accordingly, head coach Mai Duc Chung has decided to call up 24 players for the mission, including five from Vinacomin, seven from Ho Chi Minh City, six from Ha Nam, five from Ha Noi and one from the youth training centre.

In particular, the 68-year-old tactician again summoned veteran player Nguyen Thi Xuyen to ensure solidity in the defensive line. The force of the women’s team continued to be rejuvenated with many young faces in all three positions of the lineup.

Chung revealed that the team would leave for Quang Ninh Province for fitness training until October 17 before returning to Hanoi for skill and tactical training.

As planned, the training camp of Chung’s side will last from October 9 to December 10, consisting of an overseas training course in Japan from November 11 to 20. During their stay abroad, the Vietnamese team are scheduled to play four friendly games, including one against Japan’s women’s U19 team.

Mai Duc Chung and his players will depart for the Philippines on November 24 to officially kick-start their SEA Games title defence campaign.
