Beating Turkmenistan’s Altyn Asyr in the previous round, Vietnam’s Hanoi FC booked their ticket to the AFC Cup inter-zone final and will welcome 4.25 SC to Hang Day Stadium in the final first leg on September 24 night. The East Asia zonal side overcame Bangladesh’s Abahani Limited Dhaka to set up a mouthwatering encounter against the recently crowned V.League champions tomorrow.

Speaking to reporters at a pre-match press brief on Tuesday, Nghiem was confident in his players. “After winning the V.League 2019 with two games to spare, Hanoi players are very excited and are focused on the AFC Cup inter-zone final and the National Cup semi-finals. As reaching as far to the zonal final, we are determined to win our tickets to the 2019 AFC Cup overall final,” affirmed the 1972-born tactician.

Talking about his squad’s preparation, Nghiem informed that defender Van Nam suffered an injury in the last V.League match against Song Lam Nghe An. Meanwhile, midfielder Duc Huy and defender Van Dung have not been fully fit.

Regarding 4.25 SC would try to keep Hanoi’s key men captain Van Quyet and star midfielder Quang Hai at bay, Nghiem affirmed: “Hanoi succeed thanks to our collective playstyle. At the moment, Van Quyet, Quang Hai and Pape Omar are shining, but if our rivals focus on these players, the other faces of Hanoi will have more chances. We rely on the collective, not on any individual."

“Our opponents are strong and not easy to play, so Hanoi FC will have to try hard. In football we cannot say anything, but we will try our best,” the 47-year-old affirmed.

Admitting that Hanoi do not have much information on their rivals, Nghiem said: “We can only learn about 4.25 SC through their matches in AFC Cup, not in their domestic league. They have no foreign players in the squad but they are very strong in pressing and their players are very quick, with two players No. 13 and 18 who play particularly well.”

Sharing the same opinion with his coach, midfielder Hung Dung said that Hanoi FC's success is due to their collective efforts. Even without star defender Van Hau, who is on loan to Dutch top division team SC Heerenveen, or any other players, the team still have other substitutes. “Hanoi FC are excited after winning the ASEAN Zonal championship title and will play our best in the match against 4.25 SC,” Dung stressed.

For his part, 4.25 SC’s coach Oh Yun-son said that both Hanoi and his club were the winners of the previous round to enter the inter-zone final, so both are strong teams and it was difficult to tell which team is stronger.

Giving his evaluation on Hanoi FC, Oh said he had not much information on their rivals but his team were aware of their opponents’ strength. "I know that the No. 10 player [skipper Van Quyet] and No. 19 [midfielder Quang Hai] are two strong players who tend to attack and would be the main players to bring goals for their team," coach Oh said.

The DPR Korea’s strategist also revealed the secret to for his team’s strength is discipline and physical strength, because 4.25 SC are formed with the core of soldiers after being trained in the military environment.

The inter-zone final 1st leg is scheduled for Hanoi’s Hang Day Stadium at 7 pm tomorrow evening, with the second leg to be played in Pyongyang a week later. The winners will face either Jordan’s Al Jazeera or Lebanon’s Al Ahed – the two final sides of the 2019 AFC Cup West Zonal final – in the AFC Cup overall final set for November 2.
