Teenage sensation Fati leads Barca thrashing of Valencia

Barcelona's 16-year-old forward Ansu Fati continued his explosive start to life in the first team by scoring and providing an assist as the La Liga champions thrashed Valencia 5-2 on Saturday.

Goals from Fati, Frenkie de Jong, Gerard Pique and two from Luis Suarez gave Barca their second win of the season. Kevin Gameiro and Maxi Gomez scored for Valencia, who suffered their biggest defeat in over three years in coach Albert Celades' first game.

* Inter Milan went top of Serie A on Saturday after Stefano Sensi's header sealed a 1-0 win over 10 man Udinese at San Siro to continue their perfect start. Inter moved ahead of Juventus on to nine points after the champions were held to a goalless draw by Fiorentina earlier on Saturday.

* Neymar scored a spectacular last-gasp goal for Paris St Germain that was greeted with more cheers than boos in a 1-0 Ligue 1 win over Racing Strasbourg on Saturday on his first appearance of the season following a failed transfer to Barcelona.

* Roared on by a record crowd in their revamped and completed stadium, Real Sociedad ended La Liga leaders Atletico Madrid's 100% start to season with a deserved 2-0 win on Saturday.

* RB Leipzig came from a goal down to snatch a 1-1 draw against champions Bayern Munich on Saturday to remain top of the Bundesliga, a point ahead of second-placed Borussia Dortmund.

* Spanish striker Paco Alcacer continued his perfect scoring record this season as Borussia Dortmund returned to winning ways with a 4-0 victory over top-four rivals Bayern Leverkusen on Saturday.

* Liverpool maintained their 100% start to the Premier League season after coming from behind to beat Newcastle United 3-1 at Anfield, before Manchester City slipped to a shock first defeat of the campaign by newly-promoted Norwich City on Saturday. Elsewhere on a frantic day of Premier League action Manchester United earned a first victory since the opening weekend by beating Leicester City 3-1, with Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur registering emphatic wins.

* Fiorentina were left to rue missed chances after holding Juventus to a 0-0 Serie A draw in Florence on Saturday to end the champions’ perfect start to the season. Juve arrived at the Stadio Artemio Franchi having won their opening two games and were heavy favourites against a Fiorentina side on zero points and a 16-match winless league run.

* Real Madrid produced a rampant first-half display to beat Levante 3-2 in La Liga on Saturday with goals from Karim Benzema and Casemiro but dropped off after Eden Hazard came on to make his debut and were left clinging on for the three points.

* Japan's Misaki Doi upset Russian second seed Veronika Kudermetova 6-4 6-3 on Saturday to set up a final with compatriot and doubles partner Nao Hibino at the Hana-cupid Japan Women's Open in Hiroshima. It will be the first all-Japanese WTA Tour final in 22 years after Naoko Sawamatsu beat Yuka Yoshida in Jakarta in 1997.

* Croatia's Petra Martic and top seed Karolina Pliskova marched into the final of the inaugural Zhengzhou Open with commanding straight sets victories on Saturday. Seventh seed Martic dispatched Frenchwoman Kristina Mladenovic 6-0 6-3 in 67 minutes to reach her first Premier showpiece, sealing victory with her third ace of the match.

* The 'Big Three' of Roger Federer, Rafa Nadal and Novak Djokovic have confirmed they will play in the inaugural ATP Cup in a boost for the nation-based event in the leadup to the Australian Open. The ATP, governing body of the men's tour, said every member of the top 10 and 27 of the top 30 had committed to play the US$15 million tournament to be hosted in Brisbane, Perth and Sydney from Jan. 3-12, 2020.

* The 20-year-old Slovenian rider Tadej Pogacar of UAE-Emirates team won his third stage of the Vuelta de Espana (Tour of Spain) cycle race as well as riding himself into third place overall and the white jersey for the best young rider in the 20th and penultimate stage of the three week long race on Saturday.
