NDO – Hanoi FC manager Chu Dinh Nghiem did not spare words of praise for the impressive showing delivered by midfielder Nguyen Quang Hai and his teammates in their dramatic 3-2 home win against Altyn Asyr of Turkmenistan in the first leg of the AFC Cup Inter-zone semifinals on August 20.

Despite trailing a goal behind, the reigning V.League champions fought back strongly in the remainder of the match to turn the tables, thus grabbing the upper hand ahead of the second leg in a week’s time.

Quang Hai was the brightest performer of the game with a superb brace, while captain Nguyen Van Quyet converted a late penalty in the last minutes to seal a 3-2 victory for Hanoi FC.

“Hanoi FC played a brilliant and dedicated match. Our players made relentless efforts until the last whistle despite their eroded fitness,” Chu Dinh Nghiem told reporters after the match.

He gave special praise to Quang Hai following his excellent performance.

“Of course, the victory is for the entire team, but Quang Hai had a brilliant match today,”

The Hanoi tactician also spoke highly of the significant contributions made by some other players to the team’s victory, including Van Quyet and Duc Huy.

Speaking at the press conference on Tuesday, Altyn Asyr manager Hojageldiyed Yazguly said he was very impressed by midfielder Quang Hai of the Vietnamese side.

“Vietnamese football is growing rapidly. Quang Hai is playing at a very high level. At present I have still yet to work out the tactics for the second leg, but greater focus will surely be put on Hanoi’s no. 19 midfielder”.

With the 3-2 victory at home, Hanoi FC have already put one foot in the door for the AFC Cup Inter-zone Final. An away draw against Altyn Asyr this August 27 will be enough for Chu Dinh Nghiem’s troops to create another historic milestone in Vietnamese football.
