NDO – Vietnam’s top-tier football league – the V.League – has reached halfway through its 2019 season, with Ho Chi Minh City holding two points clear at the top. Below are some important stats from the 13 first-leg matchdays.

HCM City score most wins

Ho Chi Minh City clinched eight victories after the 2019 V.League first leg. Such an amazing display has helped Chung Hae-seong’s side to temporarily lead the title race after 13 matches, two points clear of second-place Hanoi FC.

Sanna Khanh Hoa concede most losses

Sanna Khanh Hoa BVN (in blue) wrap up the V.League first leg in bottom place.

Sanna Khanh Hoa BVN no longer display the brilliant form that helped them settle for third place last season, suffering from eight defeats and remaining stuck at bottom of the table after the first leg of the 2019 V.League.

Hanoi FC, the most prolific scorers

Reigning champions Hanoi FC possessed the strongest attacking lineup in the 2019 V.League first leg with a tally of 24 goals. Their forward Oseni Ganiyu Bolaji is joining Walsh Chevaughn (Hoang Anh Gia Lai) and Joao De Souza to lead the “top scorer” race with seven goals.

Khanh Hoa and Hai Phong concede most goals

Sanna Khanh Hoa BVN (in yellow) clash with Hai Phong FC on matchday 3 of the 2019 V.League.

Sanna Khanh Hoa BVN and Hai Phong FC possessed the most fragile defensive lineups, conceding 23 goals after the first 13 league matches. This is also the reason why they are standing at bottom and third from bottom in the table, respectively.

Song Lam Nghe An possess most solid defence

Song Lam Nghe An keep a clean sheet in nine of their 13 first-leg matches.

Song Lam Nghe An conceded only nine goals throughout the first leg, with an average of just 0.69 goals per clash. The solid defence allowed Nguyen Duc Thang’s side to keep a clean sheet in nine of their 13 games, the most impressive among the 14 teams.

Best home performance

Hanoi FC were the most impressive home-soil performers in the first leg, winning all of their six matches at Hang Day Stadium. Bagging full points on the home field helped the capital team compensate for their unexpected results while playing away.

Best away performance

The frontrunners of the title race, Ho Chi Minh City, were the “king” of away games in the first half of the 2019 V.League, claiming four wins and one draw, and conceding only two defeats against Hanoi FC and SHB Da Nang.

Team with most goal scorers

Joel Vinicius (C) has scored six goals for HCM City.

Under the dynasty of manager Chung Hae-seong, Ho Chi Minh City have built a diverse playing style, with any of their individuals being able to shine and score, which was clearly evidenced by their 10 goal scorers throughout the 13 first-leg matches.

Match with widest margin

Hanoi FC (in blue) thrash Quang Ninh Coal with five unanswered goals in their 2019 V.League opener.

Hanoi FC’s 5-0 demolition of Quang Ninh Coal was the match with the widest margin in the first leg of the 2019 V.League.

Nam Dinh FC’s stadium sees largest crowd of supporters

Nam Dinh province’s people demonstrated their great enthusiasm and passion for football, as an average of around 12,000 local supporters attended each match of Nam Dinh FC at Thien Truong Stadium – the largest figure compared to other stadiums.
