V.League: Quang Ninh Coal thrash Hai Phong to stay third after first leg

NDO – Rod Dyachenko scored a hat-trick as Quang Ninh Coal thrashed Hai Phong FC 4-2 in their matchday 13 encounter at Cua Ong Stadium on June 16 to wrap up the 2019 V.League first leg in third place with 21 points.

Hai Huy headed Quang Ninh into the lead after just eight minutes, before Dyachenko doubled their advantage with a successful penalty converter early in the second half.

The hosts’ absolute dominance continued to be concretised in the 82nd minute as Xuan Tu’s cross was met by Dyachenko to claim their third goal.

Quang Ninh’s stormy attack only stopped four minutes later when the Russian forward completed his hat-trick to put Phan Thanh Hung’s side four goals in front.

With time running out, Hai Phong pushed hard to narrow the gap but only managed to pull two goals back, thanks to Hoang Duong (90’) and Viet Nguyen (90’+3).

With the commanding victory, Quang Ninh Coal concluded their first-leg campaign in third position, six points behind leaders Ho Chi Minh City and four adrift of second-placed Hanoi FC.

In other matches on the same day, Song Lam Nghe An hardly broke a sweat as they trounced Hoang Anh Gia Lai with three unanswered goals to claim fourth place. Meanwhile, V.League newbies Viettel recorded a crucial 1-0 win over bottom-placed Sanna Khanh Hoa BVN thanks to a solitary goal by Bruno Cantanhede (28’), thus moving up to ninth position with 17 points.
