Real Madrid's harrowing season came to a fittingly miserable end on Sunday as they slumped to a staggering 12th La Liga defeat, losing 2-0 at home to Real Betis as many fans left the stadium early and those who stayed booed the players off the pitch.

* Brooks Koepka won the PGA Championship for a second consecutive year on Sunday (May 19) at Bethpage Black to secure his four career major title. Koepka became the first repeat winner of the PGA Championship since Woods accomplished the feat in 2007.

* Manchester City's captain and defender Vincent Kompany is leaving the club after leading his side to the FA Cup, League Cup and Premier League title this season. He will take over as player-manager at Belgian club RSC Anderlecht, where he started his footballing career.

* UEFA has adopted a "fan-first" ticketing policy for Euro 2020 with a record three million tickets available to supporters, European soccer's governing body announced on Sunday (May 19).

* Honda's world champion Marc Marquez won the French Grand Prix at Le Mans on Sunday (May 19) for his third victory in the last four races to extend his lead at the top of the MotoGP standings.

* The 26-year-old, who started in pole position, cruised to victory in 41 minutes, 53.647 seconds to reach 95 points for the season ahead of Andrea Dovizioso (87) and Alex Rins (75).

* Real Betis coach Quique Setien is to leave the club by mutual consent, the La Liga side said on Sunday after he enjoyed a memorable end to his two-year tenure by winning 2-0 at Real Madrid.

* Defending Turkish champions Galatasaray won the title for the second season in a row on Sunday after defeating second placed Basaksehir 2-1 at home, with one game to play before the season ends.

* Former Formula One world champion Fernando Alonso failed to qualify for the Indianapolis 500 when he finished fourth fastest in a six-car last-row shootout on Sunday. The Spaniard needed to be in the top three to make the 33-car field for the May 26 race but missed the coveted spot when Kyle Kaiser averaged 0.019 mph faster than Alonso for four laps.

* Paris St Germain's Kylian Mbappe, who has already scored 32 goals this season, was named both the best player and best Under-21 player for the 2018-19 season by his peers on Sunday.

* Atalanta moved into third place in Serie A and within touching distance of Champions League qualification on Sunday with a 1-1 draw at Juventus in what was Massimiliano Allegri's last home game in charge of the champions.

* Inter Milan's hopes of qualifying for the Champions League were left hanging in the balance after they slumped to an embarrassing 4-1 defeat at Napoli in Serie A on Sunday.

* Krzysztof Piatek and Suso struck in the second half as AC Milan kept their Champions League hopes alive with a hard-fought 2-0 win over relegated Frosinone on Sunday (May 19).
