Cyclists set for Return to Dien Bien Phu tournament

NDO - A cycling tournament entitled ‘Returning to Dien Bien Phu’ is scheduled to be held from May 1 to 6, as part of the activities to celebrate the 65th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory (May 7).

Seventy cyclists from 12 local teams and two foreign teams from Japan and the Philippines will participate in the tournament, which will run from Hanoi to Hoa Binh, Son La and Dien Bien provinces.

The tournament also includes laps around Hoan Kiem Lake in Hanoi and around Son La and Dien Bien Phu cities.

The race, the fourth of its kind, is organised by Quan Doi Nhan Dan (People’s Army) newspaper.

According to the organisers, other activities such as arts programmes, fund-raising for policy beneficiaries, incense offering at martyrs' cemeteries and a photo exhibition will also be held on the side-lines of the event.
