NDO – Vietnam’s no. 1 tennis player, Ly Hoang Nam, has marched on to the men’s singles final at the on-going Vietnam F5 Futures tournament in Tay Ninh province after finishing off Chinese Taipei’s Cheng Yu Yu in two straight sets 6-4, 6-4, on November 3.

Seven aces and two break points helped Nam surge past the world no. 969 and set up a title match with top seed Roman Safiullin, who beat Sweden’s Filip Bergevi 6-1, 6-3 in the other semi-final.

The final will be a chance for the Vietnamese star to avenge his loss to the Russian world no. 295 in the Vietnam F4 Futures final last week.

Later in the afternoon, Nam paired up with Safiullin to compete in the doubles title match against the no. 1 seed duo, Francis Casey Alcantara (Phillipines) and Markus Eriksson (Sweden).

Despite claiming the first set 7-5, Nam and his Russian partner could not maintain their form over the next two sets, losing 4-6 and 7-10, thereby settling for second place overall.
