Tennis star Ly Hoang Nam books quarterfinal berth at Vietnam F4 Futures

NDO – Ly Hoang Nam made light work of Trinh Linh Giang 2-0 (6-1, 6-1) in a Vietnam derby on October 25 to storm into the quarterfinals of the 2018 Vietnam F4 Futures tennis tournament in the southern province of Tay Ninh.

Vietnam’s tennis ace, Hoang Nam, continued to boast his superior power as the no. 5 seed of the singles category, as he needed only 45 minutes to see off his compatriot, Linh Giang.

Next up for Nam will be a quarterfinal clash with Oosterbaan, a 23-year-old US player currently ranked 816th in the ATP rankings.

Top seed Roman Safiullin (Russia) also booked himself in the next round following his hard-fought win (6-4, 6-4) against Botezan George (Romania).

In the men’s doubles event, the top seeded pair, Francis Casey (Philippines) and Eriksson Markus (Switzerland) struggled to defeat Bergevi Filip (Sweden) and Lakat Florian (France) 4-6, 6-4, 10-5 to make it through to the quarterfinals.

The Vietnam F4 Futures tournament is underway from October 20 to 28, offering US$25,000 in total prize money.

The men’s singles main draw has gathered 18 famous players from countries around the world, including Roman Safiullin (Russia, world no. 301), Markus Eriksson (Sweden, world no. 444), Rio Noguchi (Japan, world no. 477), Guillermo Olaso (Spain, world no. 494), Ly Hoang Nam (Vietnam, world no. 503), and other competitors from Uzbekistan, India, Chinese Taipei, the UK, the Republic of Korea, France and New Zealand.
