Indonesia ready to host 2018 Asian Games: Vice President

Vice President of Indonesia Jusuf Kalla after reviewing Asian Games venues in Jakarta on Friday confirmed that the country is ready to host the 2018 Asian Games.

"We can confirm that Indonesia is ready to host the Asian Games," Kalla said, noting that all venues, infrastructure, the athletes and the Indonesian Asian Games Organising Committee (INASGOC) were ready.

The vice president made the statement following his meeting at Gelora Bung Karno Stadium with Youth and Sports Minister Imam Nahrawi, Coordinating Human Development and Culture Minister Puan Maharani and Public Works and Housing Minister Basuki Hadimuljono.

Public Works and Housing Minister Basuki Hadimuljono said that all venues in Jakarta, Palembang and West Java were ready. “We are 100% ready," Basuki said.

Meanwhile, INASGOC chairman Erick Thohir said that INASGOC was prepared to welcome the athlete contingents.

"The athletes village is ready to welcome the first batch of athletes on August 10," Erick said.
