Nhan Dan - Premier Vietnamese male gymnast Pham Phuoc Hung fashioned an impressive comeback and took the gold medal on parallel bars at the 2013 FIG Art World Challenge Cup that wrapped up in Lubljana, Slovenia on April 28.

Despite placing second in the qualifying round with 15,400 points, Hung handled the great pressure of the finals and earned the highest score of 15,700, 0.575 point above the runner-up from Slovakia, Samuel Piasecky.

Another Vietnamese athlete Hoang Cuong also cruised to the men’s parallel bars final stage and finished fifth overall with 14,325 points.

Earlier in the tournament, the ’golden girl’ of Vietnamese gymnastics Phan Thi Ha Thanh took home a bronze medal for the country in her favourite vault event.

The competition took place in Lubljana from April 26-28 and attracted roughly 150 gymnasts from 19 countries and territories around the world.
