NDO – A wide range of practical activities have been held across the country to celebrate the 71st anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day (September 2).

On August 27, the Da Nang’s Military Command held a meeting to mark 71st anniversary of the city’s armed forces (August 28, 1945-2016). The event was an opportunity for local officials, soldiers and people to pay tribute to heroic martyrs who sacrificed their lives for national independence.

The meeting also contributes to encouraging younger generations to uphold revolutionary traditions to train and strive, contributing to firmly defending the homeland.

Also at the meeting, 105 retired officials in the city were presented with Feat-of-arms Orders and Fatherland Defence Orders for their outstanding contributions.

A programme themed ‘Month for Independence Day’ has been officially kicked off at the Vietnam National Village for Ethnic Culture and Tourism in Dong Mo tourism area of Son Tay, Hanoi.

Running through September, the programme will feature numerous unique artistic performances by artisans and village heads in various provinces including Son La, Nghe An, Hoa Binh, Thai Nguyen, Dien Bien, Dak Lak, Gia Lai and Soc Trang.

The highlight of the programme will be the reproduction of cultural spaces imbued with identities of ethnic minority groups, particularly in northwestern and northeastern regions, including traditional markets and festivals, folk singing, dancing, games and culinary activities.

The southeastern province of Binh Phuoc has held a ceremony to present awards to winners of the ninth provincial Creative Competition for Children and Teenagers (2015-2016), as part of activities to celebrate the 71st anniversary of National Day.

The contest attracted 40,006 creative models and products. Many of them have a high capacity in application to daily life, economic development, study and entertainment. At the awards ceremony, the organising board presented two second, eight third and 30 consolation prizes to competitors with the most outstanding entries.
