Tens of millions of voters eagerly vote in largest-ever election

NDO – Tens of millions of voters throughout the country eagerly took to the polls on the morning of May 22 to vote for deputies to the 14th National Assembly and all-level People’s Councils for the 2016-2021 tenure.

Before the ballot casting, ballot boxes at polling stations were carefully examined and sealed in the presence of voters in attendance.

Le Chi Thanh, 92, the oldest voter at the polling station in Lang Ha commune, Dong Da district, Hanoi, was traditionally dressed to exercise his right and duty as a Vietnamese citizen.

Mong ethnic people in Trung Chai commune, Sapa district, Lao Cai province registered to receive ballots.

Voters in Ban Hon commune’s Hon Village, Tam Duong district, Lai Chau province performed their right to vote.

Voter Nguyen Thi Dinh, 92, cast her vote at the polling station in Dong Xuan commune, Hoan Kiem district, Hanoi.

Ba Na ethnic voters in Plei To Nghia Village, Kon Tum city cast their ballots in excitement.

Aware of their obligations as citizens of Vietnam, young voters took to the polls and cast ballots by themselves.

Voter Nguyen Dinh Ngoc, 29, cast a ballot for the first time at polling station No. 8 in Vinh Bao district, Hai Phong city.

Voters at a nursing centre for war invalids in Thuan Thanh district, Bac Ninh province, joined polling.

Due to eight bedridden patients at Bach Mai Hospital in Hanoi, officials of Dong Da district’s Phuong Mai commune brought the ballot box to their wards for the patients to vote.

79-year-old voter Nguyen Thi Nga, who is being treated at Bach Mai Hospital, said she was very happy to cast her own ballot despite her poor health condition.
