NDO - National Assembly Chair Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan toured the southern provinces of Hau Giang and Kien Giang on May 8 to inspect preparations in the run-up to the elections of the 14th legislature and People’s Councils at all levels.

In Hau Giang, she praised the province for its creative efforts in raising awareness about the elections and asked the province to ensure the elections would take place in line with the law and as planned.

She urged the provincial electoral commission to continue supplementing the list of voters, especially those who work away from home, step up efforts to encourage local residents to vote and make sure campaigning activities adhere to the law.

In Hau Giang province, there are ten candidates running for the National Assembly, from which six will be chosen.

The same day, Ngan visited Kien Giang province where she was informed that the elections would be held three days ahead of the official election day of May 22 on Tho Chau Island.

The NA speaker noted that Kien Giang has a large ethnic population but confirmed that all necessary steps had been well prepared and were in line with the law and official schedule.

She noted that the province should ensure voters are well-informed on the candidates and assist voters who are tourists to Phu Quoc and Ha Tien to exercise their right to vote.
