NA deputy candidates meet with voters in localities

NDO – Several candidates for the National Assembly (NA) deputy seats on May 5 met with voters in localities around the country ahead of the upcoming election of deputies to the 14th National Assembly and all-level People’s Councils.

Politburo member and Permanent member of the Party Central Committee (PCC)'s Secretariat Dinh The Huynh and some other candidates met with voters in Hai Chau and Thanh Khe district, the central city of Da Nang. Addressing the meeting, Politburo member Huynh expressed his honour to be introduced as a candidate for the 14th NA deputy in Da Nang.

He and other candidates promised to actively contribute ideas and propose useful measures for implementation of the city’s socio-economic development programmes. He also emphasised that the NA deputy delegation would act as a bridge connecting Da Nang with the NA and Government as well as central ministries, branches and authorities to remove difficulties and obstacles in order to successfully implement the development goals for the 2015-2020 period.

At the meeting, voters voiced hope that elected NA deputies would further their involvement in addressing pressing issues including environmental protection, supporting fishermen, economic development and in the protection of the country’s territorial seas and islands.

The inspection and supervision delegation of the NA Standing Committee and National Electoral Council, led by Politburo member, PCC Secretary and Head of Party Central Committee’s Inspection Commission Tran Quoc Vuong, inspected preparations for the upcoming NA and People’s Council elections in the central province of Ha Tinh.

Politburo member Vuong appreciated the initiative and positive results in the preparations of the province. He also noted that Ha Tinh should pay attention to the settlement of the citizens’ complaints and denunciations as well as in handling complex issues to ensure the transparency and democracy of the election.

On the same day, Politburo member and NA Vice Chairwoman Tong Thi Phong met with voters in Son La city, the northern mountainous province of Son la.

Addressing the meeting, the NA Vice Chairwoman expressed her determination in fulfilling her responsibilities as well as actively listening to people’s opinions, meeting the expectations of voters and the community. NA Vice Chairwoman Phong will meet with voters in Thuan Chau, Mai Son and Yen Chau over the next few days.

The Thai Nguyen provincial Election Commission held a conference to meet candidates for its 14th NA and 2016-2021 tenure’s People Council deputies, in the presence of Politburo member, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Pham Binh Minh. The commission announced lists of candidates, including 13 running for deputies of the 14th NA and 120 running for People’s Councils. As planned, the candidates will meet with voters from May 6-16.

Also on the same day, PCC member and NA Vice Chairman Uong Chu Luu attended a meeting between NA deputy candidates and voters in Trieu Son district, the northern central province of Thanh Hoa. The candidates will continue to meet with voters in Thieu Hoa, Yen Dinh and Tho Xuan districts over the upcoming days.

In addition, PCC member and NA Vice Chairman Do Ba Ty and NA deputy candidates for the northern mountainous province of Lao Cai met with voters in Bac Ha and Si Ma Cai districts. The voters proposed that all branches and departments should pay more attention to improving the transport system, schools, electricity and irrigation for ethnic minority groups in remote and mountainous area as well as solving the issues of employment and vocational training for rural labourers.
