NDO – A delegation of 35 Vietnamese medical experts left for Laos on May 4 to support the neighbouring country in testing, diagnosis, and treatment of COVID-19 as well as in building field hospitals.

The delegation, led by Dr Hoang Minh Duc, Deputy Director of Ministry of Health’s General Department of Preventive Medicine, will also hand over medical supplies and equipment to Laos.

On May 3, at the meeting with the delegation, Minister of Health Nguyen Thanh Long said that Vietnam has learned valuable lessons in COVID-19 prevention and control, including tracing for early detection of COVID-19 infection, centralised quarantine, home quarantine, social distancing measures, and lockdown.

The country has also gained experience in COVID-19 treatment, the construction of field hospitals and setting up COVID-19 testing labs, and healthcare waste management in the context of COVID- 19, he added.

He stressed that Vietnam is willing to share these lessons and experience with Laos to help them curb the spread of the pandemic.
