NDO - The Vietnamese Consulate General in the Cambodian province of Preah Sihanouk has donated 10,000 medical masks and 1,000 bottles of sanitiser to local authorities and the people.

Speaking at the handover ceremony on December 4, Consul General Vu Ngoc Ly said he highly appreciates the Cambodian government’s efforts in maintaining peace, stability and socio-economic development as well as their fight against Covid-19.

The Vietnamese diplomat added that the consulate general has always watched outbreak developments in Cambodia closely and noted that the situation is still under control despite some cases of community transmission recently.

For his part, Preah Sihanouk Governor Kouch Chamroeun said the supplies are highly valuable as Cambodia is experiencing its most difficult period thus far in dealing with Covid-19 since the pandemic began.

He stated that such masks and sanitisers will be distributed to students in the province who are taking part in secondary school graduation examinations on December 21.

After Preah Sihanouk, the Vietnamese Consulate General will donate medical supplies to other provinces under its jurisdiction, including Kampot, Kep, Koh Kong, Takeo and Kampong Seu.

As of December 4, Cambodia has recorded 335 cases of Covid-19, with 304 recoveries and no deaths.
