Activities entertain children ahead of Mid-autumn festival

NDO - Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh presented gifts and scholarships to disadvantaged children at a Mid-Autumn Festival celebration held by the Vietnam Women’s Union (VWU) in Hanoi on September 28.

Addressing the event, the Deputy PM asked the Party committees and authorities at all levels as well as the whole society to pay more attention to children, particularly those living in difficult circumstances.

He urged relevant agencies to further study the social house model in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City which has helped victims of child abuse to stabilise their physical and mental health while enhancing child abuse prevention and combat.

He called on the participating children to rise above their difficulties to become upstanding citizens of the country in the near future.

On the morning the same day, a signing ceremony between the Central Council of the Ho Chi Minh Young Pioneer Organisation and the Southern Rubber Industry Joint Stock Company on the building of 45 children’s playgrounds in 20 cities and provinces at a total investment of VND10 billion.

Also yesterday, the Thanh Hoa city People’s Committee hosted a programme at the Hoang Hoa Tham Elementary School in Thanh Hoa city to raise up the spirits up of children ahead of the Full Moon Festival, during which they were entertained with exciting lion dance, and arts performances.

A similar event was recently held by the Thanh Hoa provincial Youth Union at the Na Meo Secondary School in Quan Son district to present 200 gifts, 15 bicycles, 3,000 textbooks, and 1,000 moon cakes to ethnic children in mountainous and border areas in the locality.

Children whose parents are workers at industrial parks in Vinh Phuc province joined a full moon celebration organised at Khai Quang industrial zone’s cultural house in Vinh Yen city by the provincial authorities on September 26. A total of 290 gifts were presented to disadvantaged children at the event.
