Tet gifts given to policy beneficiaries nationwide

NDO – Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh and her entourage visited and presented gifts to local workers and policy beneficiaries in the northern province of Hoa Binh on January 8, on the occasion of the upcoming Lunar New Year (Tet) 2020.

Attending a gathering to celebrate Tet with workers at R Technical Research Vietnam Co., Ltd. in Hoa Binh City, Vice President Thinh conveyed her New Year wishes to all local officials and workers, urging Hoa Binh authorities to continue to pay more attention and care to local ethnic minorities and to promote more investment attraction in order to increase budget revenue and create jobs for local labourers.

Thinh joined local leaders to present 110 Tet gifts worth a total of VND110 million to workers at businesses based in Hoa Binh City.

On the same day, the Vice President also toured Yen Quang Commune in Ky Son District to present 130 Tet gifts (worth VND1 million each) to local disadvantaged household members, policy beneficiaries and victims of Agent Orange. The National Fund for Vietnamese Children also donated VND200 million to disadvantaged students in Hoa Binh.

Also on January 8, Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court, Nguyen Hoa Binh, visited and gave gifts for Tet to several public agencies, military units and local families in Phu Quoc Island District, Kien Giang Province.

While also on the same day, Lieutenant General Le Hien Van, Deputy Director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People’s Army, joined his delegation to present gifts for Tet to officers and soldiers of the Border Guards Command of Thanh Hoa Province and the Sam Son Border Guard Station.

Hundreds of Tet gifts were also given out to policy beneficiaries in the southernmost province of Ca Mau by Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council and President of Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, Nguyen Xuan Thang, on January 8.

On Wednesday evening, at the Children's House in Thu Duc District, the Ho Chi Minh City Federation of Labour joined other agencies and organisations to grant over 1,700 coach and train tickets to local disadvantaged workers to return home so they can celebrate Tet with their loved ones.

The same event was held earlier on the same day in Da Nang, as hundreds of students from Dong A University in the central coastal city were granted free coach tickets worth a total of VND47.6 million so that they can reunite with their families to celebrate the upcoming Tet festival.

Representatives from Sacombank Cambodia, a subsidiary of the Sai Gon Thuong Tin Commercial Joint Stock Bank, presented Tet gifts to 100 needy Cambodian families of Vietnamese origin in Phnom Penh on January 8. Each gift package comprised of cash, rice and basic necessities.
