Ho Chi Minh City honours outstanding young citizens

NDO – A total of 12 outstanding young citizens of Ho Chi Minh City were honoured at a ceremony held on January 2 by the city’s communist youth union in recognition of their significant contributions to local development over the past year.

The honourees stood out from 72 nominees who have had excellent performance in studying and working.

Prominent members among them included Dr Dao Nguyen Khoi, a young scientist who was awarded the Associate Professor title; Hoang Trung Hieu, a student who has gained significant findings in Artificial Intelligence; Huynh Nhu, the captain of the of the Vietnamese women's football team; and lieutenant Tran Le Bao who made outstanding contributions to the fight against drug-related crimes.

Addressing the event, Politburo member and Secretary of the municipal Party Committee Nguyen Thien Nhan spoke highly of the exemplary young citizens’ contributions to the city.

He expressed his hope that the honourees will gain even further success in their studies and work in the coming years.

On behalf of the awardees, captain Huynh Nhu said that the title reflects the care and encouragement of the city’s authorities so that every citizen is motivated to work harder for the overall development of Ho Chi Minh City.

The vote for HCM City’s young outstanding citizens has been held for 13 years and it has honoured a total of 87 exemplary residents.
