NDO - Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has issued a message calling for measures to ensure traffic order and safety during the upcoming New Year, Lunar New Year and the spring festival season of 2020.

The Lunar New Year will fall in late January and will be followed by a great number of folk festivals held across the country to celebrate the arrival of spring.

The PM asked the National Traffic Safety Committee and relevant authorities to direct the agencies under their jurisdiction to enhance the capacity and quality of passenger transport services, and to organise services properly to ensure all passengers can arrive home on time for Tet, as the Lunar New Year is known in Vietnam.

He also requested strict measures to deal with unregulated fare increases.

In his message, the head of government called for stepped-up efforts to punish violation of road safety rules, especially drunk driving, driving under the influence and speeding.

The Prime Minister also asked the authorities concerned to deploy their forces to promptly relieve congestion, especially during the first and last days of the Tet holiday, on major routes leading in and out of Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City as well as at important traffic hubs such as airports and railway stations.
