NDO – Hanoi Law University (HLU) held a ceremony in Hanoi on November 10 to celebrate its 40th founding anniversary (1979-2019) and to receive the Labour Order, first class, for the second time.

The event was attended by Politburo member and permanent member of the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat Tran Quoc Vuong, Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh, and leaders of ministries and sectors.

Addressing the event, Deputy PM Binh stressed that the Party and State attach great importance to the training of qualified legal officers, particularly in the context of the building and perfecting of the socialist rule-of-law state of Vietnam.

He asked the HLU to reaffirm its leading position in researching and developing legal science while paying more attention to doing research which supports the country’s judicial reform.

The university’s operation should also facilitate the protection of the national security and sovereignty while helping to implement the country’s international commitments.

Over the past four decades, the university has provided courses for nearly 100,000 legal officers nationwide. Many graduated students have held important positions in many Party and State agencies, including nearly 80 National Assembly deputies.

The university has also made significant contributions to fostering the research of legal science, perfecting and popularising law in Vietnam, and providing legal consultation service in Southeast Asian region.
