NDO - President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh visited and presented gifts to policy beneficiary and disadvantaged households and schoolchildren in Mu Cang Chai district, in the northern mountainous province of Yen Bai, on September 21.

As one of the country’s 56 particularly disadvantaged districts, more than 91% of Mu Cang Chai’s population belongs to the H’mong ethnic group. In 2018, the poverty rate was over 51%.

Thanks to the Party and State’s attention, the residents’ living standards have improved, with 100% of communes having motorways leading to the commune centre. Social insurance has also covered 98.5% of the population.

While in Mu Cang Chai, the Vice President asked the district to continue tapping into its internal strengths towards rapid and sustainable poverty reduction so that Mu Cang Chai can soon escape from the status of a poor district.

On the occasion, Vice President Thinh presented VND300 million of the National Fund for Vietnamese Children to Yen Bai province, VND50 million to the Mu Cang Chai Fund for the Poor, 50 gifts to policy beneficiary households and 100 gifts to underprivileged children.
