NDO - The Ministry of Defence held a conference on August 15 to honour outstanding military units and individuals from a movement launched in 2014 to encourage military personnel to follow the example of President Ho Chi Minh.

Those being honoured included 84 military units and 119 servicemen and servicewomen, who were awarded with certificates of merit by the Defence Minister.

In a review report, Deputy Minister Nguyen Trong Nghia stated that the movement has helped build a politically strong army, ready to combat and fulfil the duty of national defence in a new period.

Speaking at the event, Minister Ngo Xuan Lich praised the efforts of soldiers and officers of the whole military force towards overcoming all difficulties and hardships and upholding the fine tradition of “Uncle Ho’s Soldiers”.

He expressed his belief that members of the military will continue building on their strengths and traditions to fulfil the duty of defending the motherland, deserving of an absolutely loyal army of the Party, State and people.

On the afternoon of the same day, a delegation of outstanding soldiers and officers paid their homage to President Ho Chi Minh at his mausoleum in Ba Dinh Square.
