NDO - The 2019 Vietnam-India People’s Friendship Festival kicked off in the northern province of Ninh Binh on August 13 under the theme “Solidarity - Cooperation - Development”.

The event is jointly held by the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations, the Vietnam-India Friendship Association and the Ninh Binh authorities.

The Indian delegation attending the festival is led by Pallab Sengupta, Secretary General of the All India Peace and Solidarity Organisation (AIPSO), and consists of 35 members.

Meanwhile the Vietnamese delegation saw the participation of friendship organisation leaders, foreign ministry representatives, local officials, residents of the area, and students of Hoa Lu University.

At the festival, the two countries’ delegations recalled the tradition of cooperation and mutual support for each country’s struggle for national liberation and national construction.

They also discussed measures to boost people-to-people exchanges in order to raise the bilateral relationship to new heights.

The festival continued with an arts programme performed by artists of the Indian delegation and artists of the Ninh Binh Cheo Theatre, honouring the two countries’ fine traditions.

Prior to the event, the Indian delegation visited the World Heritage site of Trang An, which was an opportunity for Ninh Binh province to introduce its strengths in tourism and investment incentives to the Indian guests.
