NDO - Vietnam has been named as one of ten best countries for expatriate workers thanks to its colourful culture and friendly locals, according to the HSBC’s Expat 2019 Global Report.

Vietnam ranks number ten while the best destination is Switzerland, followed by Singapore and Canada.

The country ranks third in the aspiring criterion, which includes subcriteria such as income, economic stability, career progression and work-life balance.

The report notes that the appeal of Vietnam has expanded greatly in recent years and, in particular, serial expats are setting their sights on the magnificent landscape, lively culture and positive work-life balance.

It further states that most expats moving to Vietnam say they were able to quickly adjust to the local way of life, feeling at home within the first few months of arriving.

This is largely due to the Vietnamese communities being welcoming and encouraging expats to get involved with their impressive calendar of cultural events, leading to many strong friendships being formed within a short time, explains the report.

According to HSBC, expats are also pleasantly surprised by the benefits of working in Vietnam.

Many receive salary increases which, given the relatively low cost of living, provides them with far more spending power to enjoy everything the country has to offer, states the report.
