NDO – The Vietnam Family Festival 2019 will take place from June 28 to 30 at the Vietnam Exhibition Centre for Culture and Arts in Hanoi, with various activities honouring the traditional values of Vietnamese families, as announced by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism on June 24.

Accordingly, the centre will coordinate with the Museum of Vietnamese Ethnic Groups’ Culture to host an exhibition on the traditional weddings of Vietnamese ethnic groups, from the preparations to unique rituals at the ceremony.

The exhibition aims to reaffirm that weddings are a traditional cultural practice of Vietnamese ethnic community. The ceremony marks a start of a family where members desire to be compassionate and loving towards others.

Meanwhile, a display entitled ‘Father’s shoulder’ will showcase articles, interviews, objects and pictures telling 20 personal stories on the role of men in the family, fatherhood, and the bond between family members.

The festival also includes an exhibition of sixty propaganda posters on the role of families in the prevention of child abuse and violence against children. The exhibits were selected from winning entries of a competition on the same topic which was launched by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

Standout traditional products made by families of traditional craft villages will be on display as well, aiming to honour the traditional cultural values, industriousness and creativeness of the craft families.

On the occasion, the National Library of Vietnam will introduce readers to 500 book titles on family culture and child protection.
