NDO – The Vietnam Golf Association in Russia (VGR) launched its annual ‘Vietnam and Friends’ golf tourney in Moscow on June 22.

The event attracted more than 100 golfers from Vietnam and European countries, including Germany, Hungary, Denmark, France, and Netherlands, among others.

Participants also included Vietnamese Ambassador to Russia Ngo Duc Manh, Thai Ambassador to Russia Thanatip Upatising, and representatives of diplomatic corps in Moscow.

Addressing the opening ceremony, Vietnamese Ambassador to Russia Ngo Duc Manh said that the tourney is an event of significance among the series of activities celebrating the Vietnam – Russia Cross Year 2019 and the 70th anniversary of the two countries’ diplomatic ties (1950-2020).

He expressed his hope that the event would help to deepen the friendship and trust between people of the two nations while increasing Russians’ understanding about Vietnamese culture and people.

The golf tourney, held annually at the end of June, is the biggest event of the year hosted by the VGR as it draws a relatively large number of competitors. Since 2017, the event has been included in the tournament system of the European Vietnam Golf Association.
