NDO - More than 130 scholars from universities and research institutes in Vietnam and abroad attended the Vietnam Economists Annual Meeting (VEAM 2019) on June 17-18 at Da Lat University.

During the two-day event, which is now in its 12th year, delegates from Vietnam, France, the US, the UK, Spain, Portugal and Japan presented over 100 reports on the Vietnamese economy.

Notable speakers included Professor Jean-Michel Grandmont from CREST, Professor Leonor Modesto from the Católica-Lisbon School of Business and Economics, Professor Cees Withagen from VU University and Professor Eddy Malesky from Duke University.

As part of the meeting, there was a roundtable conference with the participation of more than 40 domestic and foreign scholars who discussed the relationship between productivity, innovations and economic growth.

Associate Professor Nguyen Van Ket, Deputy Rector of Da Lat University, stated that the reports presented at the meeting offered new insights and useful policy implications to the Vietnamese economy.

VEAM is an annual event for economists and sociologists to share their research and experience towards gaining a more profound understanding of economic and social issues concerning Vietnam.

Through VEAM, a network of international and Vietnamese researchers has been established, bringing about more effective cooperation between Vietnam’s research centres and universities around the world.

Next year, VEAM 2020 is planned to take place at Can Tho University.
