NDO - A hand-over ceremony for a friendship house was held in Sekong province, Laos, on June 1.

The house was presented to Mrs Kanchia, a local woman who saved a Vietnamese volunteer soldier during the resistance war against the US imperialists.

This was a part of a project held jointly by the Vietnam-Laos Friendship Association (VLFA) and the Laos-Vietnam Friendship Association.

Speaking at the ceremony, Tran Van Tuy, who is a member of the Party Central Committee (PCC), Deputy Head of the PCC Organisation Commission and Chairman of the Central Committee of VLFA, expressed his thanks to the LVFA and authorities of Sekong province for their active support during the implementation of the project.

The project is considered as a symbol of the special friendship between Vietnam and Laos as well as an address to educate the revolutionary tradition for the younger generation of the two countries, he noted.

For his part, Vilayvong Butdakham, head of the Lao National Assembly’s Committee for Planning, Finance and Audit and Chairman of the Laos -Vietnam Friendship Association Central Committee expressed his thanks to the Party, the State of Vietnam, the VLFA, Ho Chi Minh City and Quang Nam province for jointly raising funds to build the friendship house.

He also added that the project was a vivid manifestation of the close and practical cooperation of the two friendship associations, contributing to strengthening the special friendship, solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Laos and Vietnam.
