NDO – Tran Thanh Man, Secretary of the Party Central Committee and President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Central Committee, has called on senior citizens to continue establishing themselves as shining examples for younger generation to follow and helping to build civilised and happy communities in their living areas.

Speaking at a working session with the Vietnam Association of the Elderly (VAE) on February 14, the VFF leader hailed many elders as having played a key role in social movements and serving as a firm spiritual foundation for the community.

He praised the VAE’s efforts in encouraging its members’ participation in implementing patriotic movements, protecting the environment, and building cultural lifestyle in residential areas.

The association was also applauded for its close coordination with relevant ministries and sectors in the building of laws and policies on socio-economic development and documents relating to caring for Vietnamese elder people.

He reaffirmed that the Party, State and the VFF always attach great care and attention to caring for the elderly and appreciate their contributions to the national construction and defence.

On the occasion of New Year 2019 – the Year of the Pig, he extended his best greetings to the VAE and its members, expressing his belief that the association will gain more fruitful outcomes in their operations and make more practical contributions to the national development.
