NDO – Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh visited the Hanoi-based Committee for Solidarity of Vietnamese Catholics (CSVC) on December 20, to convey her greetings to the committee and Catholics in general on the occasion of the upcoming Christmas and New Year.

The state leader wished CSVC Chairman, Priest Tran Xuan Manh and Catholics a merry Christmas and happy New Year, affirming that Catholics are an integral part of the national unity bloc.

Vietnamese Catholics have made positive contributions to the nation’s struggle for national independence and reunification in the past and the present cause of reform, thus fulfilling socio-economic and cultural targets, she said.

The CSVC has also actively responded to movements and campaigns launched by the Party, State and Vietnam Fatherland Front, Thinh said, urging the committee to continue encouraging Catholics to participate in patriotic movements.

In response, Priest Manh said that, over the past 35 years, his committee has played the core role in patriotic movements of Vietnamese Catholics, joining hands to realise the guidelines and policies by the Party and State.

The committee has also organised training courses and dissemination sessions on the relevant laws and guidelines, including the Constitution, the Law on Belief and Religion, and other related documents to Catholic dignitaries and followers, he added.
