Fair to celebrate Vietnam Book Day

NDO – A book fair, showcasing nearly 50,0000 book titles of various genres, will take place from April 18 to 22 at Thong Nhat Park in Hanoi, as part of the activities to celebrate Vietnam Book Day.

The information was announced by Director of the Department of Publishing, Printing and Distribution under the Ministry of Information and Communication (MIC), Chu Van Hoa, who is head of the organising board, at a press conference in Hanoi on April 11.

The event is expected to attract the participation of nearly 80 publishers and publishing companies that will showcase their books at more than 100 booths.

Nearly 20 events will be held within the framework of book day, including the introduction of the book “Industry 4.0 revolution, revolution of convergence and saving”, and talks on “Books-Culture, development and integration” and “picture book markets in Vietnam and the Republic of Korea”, among others.

Particularly, many activities in response to Vietnam Book Day have been deployed in localities throughout the nation, such as an exchange programme themed ‘Knowledge - the key to start a business’ and a talk ‘How did you read?’ in Nam Dinh province; an event themed ‘Book - Culture, Development and Integration’ in Bac Ninh province; a book fair in Phu Tho province and a contest of eloquence on books in Hai Phong city.

According to Director of the Department of Publishing, Printing and Distribution, Hoa, the Vietnam Book Day 2018 is also a premise to review the five-year implementation of Decision No. 284 / QD-TTg on Vietnam Book Day.

Over recent years, Vietnam Book Day has become more and more widely spread, contributing to the development of the publishing industry, and is an occasion to spread reading cultural values to the people.
