Greetings sent to Khmer people on traditional Chol Chnam Thmay festival

NDO – Vice President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Central Committee Nguyen Huu Dung visited Khleang pagoda in Soc Trang province on April 11, to congratulate the provincial Patriotic Clergy Solidarity Association on the Chol Chnam Thmay (New Year) festival.

The VFF leader wished the Khmer monks and peoples a New Year full of health, happiness, and joy, hailing that the Khmer ethnic group has made significant contributions to the socio-economic development, social and security maintenance, and cultural preservation of Soc Trang province.

The same day, a delegation of the Ho Chi Minh City Fatherland Front Committee led by its Vice President Trieu Le Khanh visited and presented gifts to Khmer people living in difficult circumstances in the city’s district 3 and Tan Binh district.

Extending her best wishes to the Khmer people on their traditional New Year festival, Vice President Trieu Le Khanh expressed her wish that the Khmer ethnics would make more practical actions towards national construction and defence..

On the occasion, the Hau Giang provincial authorities presented 220 gifts, worth VND500,000 each, to 220 Khmer monks, retired officials, policy beneficiaries and dignitaries in the Khmer ethnic community in the province at a gathering held yesterday.

At the event, the delegates were updated on the province’s socio-economic situation as well as its implementation of the Party and State’s ethnic affair policies.
