NDO – A broadcasting station was inaugurated in Svay Rieng province, Cambodia on April 10 as a gift from the Vietnamese Government to Cambodia.

Addressing the inauguration ceremony, Svay Rieng provincial Governor Men Vibol spoke of his great appreciation for the project’s contributions to improving the cultural and spiritual life of local residents, and disseminating policies and laws among the people.

Vietnamese ambassador to Cambodia Vu Quang Minh described the project as a clear symbol of the effective cooperation between Vietnam and Cambodia.

He also appreciated the efforts made by the project team in completing its construction, which will facilitate people’s access to information while aiding the province’s socio-economic development.

The broadcast station, constructed by the Voice of Vietnam (VOV), is equipped with modern facilities which will allow increased broadcast coverage and transmission quality, while also improving Cambodia’s capacity to produce radio and TV programmes.

A total of 19 Vietnam-funded radio stations and 2 broadcasting stations have been established in cities and provinces throughout Cambodia since 2008. Three more broadcasting stations are scheduled to be put into operation in 2018.
