NDO - An awards ceremony was held to honour Vietnamese enterprises with outstanding products and services on March 17, as part of a movement to encourage Vietnamese consumers to buy local products.

Among the nearly 300 nominations, the jury panel decided to present awards to 96 enterprises after two rounds of qualifications.

Several notable names included Traphaco, Quang Ngai Sugar, Tien Phong Plastics, Fahasa, Hai Phong Paint and PVFCCo.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Vuong Dinh Hue said he highly appreciates the efforts of the honoured companies in enhancing the quality of their products, helping to combat fake goods and products that don’t have clear origins.

He also praised Vietnamese consumers who have overcome the bias against domestic products in order to make the “buy local” campaign a success.

The Deputy PM emphasised that the local business community needs to show the will and creativity of the Vietnamese people to renovate and diversify their offerings so as to increase the penetration of locally made products in the domestic market.

The “Vietnamese people prioritise Vietnamese goods” movement was launched in 2009 and has significantly changed the shopping habits of Vietnamese consumers.

A recent survey shows that nearly two in three Vietnamese people say they trust and prioritise buying products made by local enterprises.
