NDO – A total of 700 students in the northern province of Ha Nam were presented with the ‘Chap Canh Uoc Mo’ (Giving Wings to Students’ Dreams) scholarships, totalling at nearly VND2 billion, at a ceremony held on August 9 by the Provincial People’s Committee and the Binh Dien Fertilizer Joint Stock Company.

The event was attended by former Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan, who is also Chairwoman of the Vietnam Association for Study Encouragement; representatives of ministries and sectors; leaders of Ha Nam province; and 300 students representing the 700 scholarship recipients.

The 700 scholarship recipients included children of officers and soldiers that are on duty in Truong Sa (Spratly) and Hoang Sa (Paracel) archipelagos, students winning prizes at international and national contests, and students who overcome their difficulties to achieve high academic results.

Also on August 9, 35 students who are Agent Orange/ Dioxin victims and students with disabilities in Soc Trang province received Luong Dinh Cua scholarships, worth VND1 million each, at a ceremony hosted by the Vietnam Association for Victims of Agent Orange/ Dioxin.

The organising board also awarded VND1.5 million each for four local athletes with disabilities who won prizes at the 2019 National sports competition for people with disabilities.

On the occasion, the Soc Trang provincial Women's Association delivered 100 scholarships, worth VND1 million each, plus 10 bicycles and school accessories to children of the association’s members, who overcome difficulties to gain high study results.

The same day, the Hau Giang Provincial Confederation of Labour delivered scholarships worth VND1.3 billion to children of poor workers in the province.
