Vietnam Fatherland Front’s Hanoi chapter opens 17th Congress

NDO – The 17th Congress of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF)’s Hanoi chapter, the 2019-2024 tenure, opened in Hanoi on July 25, with the participation of 330 delegates representing the people of the capital city.

Party General Secretary and President of Vietnam Nguyen Phu Trong; Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan sent congratulatory flowers to the congress.

The event was attended by Politburo member and Secretary of the municipal Party Committee Hoang Trung Hai; Secretary of the Party Central Committee and VFF President Tran Thanh Man; and other leaders of cities.

With the theme "Democracy - Solidarity - Innovation - Effectiveness", the Congress has the task of reviewing and approving the report on the results of implementation of the Resolution of the 16th congress of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Congress’s Hanoi chapter for the 2019-2024 term; assessing advantages, and pointing out limitations and shortcomings, as well as causes of the limitations and shortcomings in the past tenure to learn from them. In addition, the Congress also will discuss key targets, tasks and solutions in the programme of action of the Vietnam Fatherland Front’s Hanoi chapter for the 2019-2024 term.

Addressing at the congress, Secretary of the Party Central Committee and VFF President Tran Thanh Man praised the efforts of the VFF officials at the city level, who has closely followed the movement and implemented the programme effectively. Thereby, they have contributed to the socio-economic development, ensuring the defence, security and foreign affairs of the city.

The VFF President asked that the party committees at all levels to continue to pay more attention to building a contingent of VFF cadres and effectively implement a centralized democracy in the Party. Meanwhile, the city authorities were urged to coordinate closely with the Fatherland Front Committee at the same level to fully implement the Law on Vietnam Fatherland Front.

Tran Thanh Man expressed his hope that, in the coming years, the city's Fatherland Front at all levels will continue to be dynamic, creative, innovative and effective, contributing to gathering more and more people in the great national unity bloc.

On this occasion, on behalf of the President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, Secretary of the municipal Party Committee Hoang Trung Hai awarded the first class Independence Medal, to the Committee of Vietnam Fatherland Front’s Hanoi chapter for outstanding achievements in the 2014-2019 term.
