Activities mark 94th Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day

NDO – Various activities are being held across the nation to mark the 94th anniversary of the Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day (June 21, 1925-2019).

On the morning of June 18, at the headquarters of the People's Army Newspaper in Hanoi, General Ngo Xuan Lich, who is both a Politburo member and the Minister of Defence, visited and met with journalists working for military press agencies to congratulate them on the occasion of the 94th anniversary of the Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day.

So far, the entire army has 56 press agencies, including 11 press agencies with e-newspapers, with Vietnamese, English, Chinese, Laotian and Khmer versions, performing the task of disseminating the Party and State's guidelines and policies to the public and the army, acting as the voice of the people's armed forces and a reliable forum and information channel on military, national defence and external affairs activities in defence.

Praising achievements by the military press agencies and journalists, General Lich urged the military press to become a standard journalistic part of Vietnam's revolutionary press, in which promoting the replication of typical examples on studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and lifestyle, implementing the campaign on “Promoting the fine tradition of Uncle Ho's soldiers”, and focusing on providing information on external affairs and defence.

He also required the military journalism staff to improve their professionalism to quickly adapt to the demand and strong development trends of modern media, while preserving and promoting the quality and honour of each “journalist-soldier”.

Also on Tuesday, a ceremony was held by Nghe An province’s authorities to mark the 94th anniversary of the Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day. At the event, the 2018 Nghe An Press Prizes were granted to 27 outstanding press works, including two first, four second, nine third and 12 consolation prizes.

On the same day, a similar ceremony was held in Thanh Hoa province, in which local authorities presented the 2018 Tran Mai Ninh Press Awards– named after the local well-known writer and reporter Tran Mai Ninh – to outstanding works, including five A, 11 B and 19 C prizes.
