NDO – Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam has stressed that the most important thing for the press development is the “sensitivity” and “sharpness” of each journalist.

The senior government official made the suggestion during a regular press briefing held in Hanoi on June 18 to mark the 94th Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day (June 21, 1925-2019).

Congratulating the journalists on the occasion, Deputy PM Dam also shared with those working in the media on the difficulties they face in their profession. According to him, in the current era, not only journalists, but the press management agencies also encounter difficulties and pressure in ensuring quickness, timeliness, and accuracy of information, while defining clear boundaries between newspapers and social networks.

While affirming the important role of the media in a new era, Dam noted that increasing the “sensitivity” and “sharpness” for journalists is the responsibility not only of the press agencies, but also the responsibility of the whole political system under the leadership of the Party and State management agencies and other specialised associations.

In addition, State agencies also need to strengthen the provision of adequate information for the press, he added.

At the event, participants were provided with information about the outstanding operation results of the press in the past week, as well the external services in the journalism sector.
