Vietnam, Cambodia exchange experiences in religious affairs

NDO - A conference was held by the Vietnamese Government Committee for Religious Affairs and the Cambodian Ministry of Religions and Cults in the Mekong River Delta province of An Giang on January 7, aiming to share their experiences in religious affairs.

Head of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs Vu Chien Thang and Deputy Secretary of State at the corresponding Cambodian ministry Min Chandyneth Min Chandyneth chaired the event.

According to the Vietnamese official, the four-day conference was an opportunity for the two sides to share their experience and practical lessons on the state management of religious affairs. This was done in order to improve the management capacity and efficiency in the field, while significantly contributing to social stability and the development of the country.

He also noted that the Vietnamese Government Committee for Religious Affairs will make more efforts to proactively implement the cooperation agreement with the Ministry of Religions and Cults of Cambodia, contributing to consolidating and enhancing the traditional friendship and comprehensive cooperation between the two States.

For her part, Deputy Secretary of State at the Cambodian Ministry of Religions and Cults, Min Chandyneth, recalled the great support from the Vietnamese Party, Government, Fatherland Front, soldiers and people during the fight against the Pol Pot genocidal regime, bringing peace to Cambodia.

The Cambodian Ministry of Religions and Cults and the Vietnamese Government Committee for Religious Affairs signed a memorandum of understanding on religious cooperation on December 6, 2007 and a cooperation agreement on religious affairs on February 2, 2015, contributing to strengthening the friendship and cooperation between the two sides for the sake of the two peoples as well as maintaining the stability in the region and the world, she added.
