Vietnam-funded headquarters handed over to Laos - Vietnam Cooperation Committee

NDO - The Ministry of Planning and Investment of Laos in co-ordination with the Ministry of Planning and Investment of Vietnam held a ceremony in Vientiane on September 9 to inaugurate the new headquarters of the Laos - Vietnam Cooperation Committee (LVCC), which is a gift from the Vietnamese Government.

Speaking at the ceremony, Vice Chairman of the LVCC Khampheui Keokinnali said this important project is considered a model for the Laos-Vietnam cooperation in the new period.

He also took this occasion to thank the Vietnamese Party, Government and people for supporting Laos in all fields over the past time, and wished the bilateral traditional friendship; special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation to continuously thrive.

It is also a vivid manifestation of the close ties, time-honoured and faithful solidarity, and the special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two Parties, States and peoples of Vietnam and Laos, he noted.

For his part, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam-Laos Cooperation Committee Nguyen Van Trung said the new headquarters is expected to provide better working conditions for officials and employees of the LVCC, contributing effectively to promoting cooperation between the two countries.

The construction of the four-storey building, which commenced in June 2018, was funded by a non-refundable aid package of VND56 billion (US$2.4 million) from the Vietnamese Government and the corresponding capital of VND4 billion from the Lao Government.

On this occasion, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam-Laos Cooperation Committee Nguyen Van Trung presented US$10,000 as aid for residents affected by natural disasters in Laos’ central and southern provinces.
