NDO/VNA – Vietnamese Ambassador to Cuban and Saint Kitts and Nevis Nguyen Trung Thanh presented his credentials to Saint Kitts and Nevis Governor-General Samuel Weymouth Tapley Seaton on April 8.

On the occasion, the diplomat paid a courtesy call to Prime Minister Timothy Harris and met with Minister of Foreign Affairs Mark Brantley.

At the meetings, Ambassador Thanh congratulated the island country on its socio-economic growth, particularly in tourism and finance-banking, and informed his hosts of Vietnam’s reform and development progress, as well as its external diplomatic policies of peace, independence and international integration.

Governor-General Seaton said the two nations share common values of peace, security and cooperation for development and climate change adaptation.

PM Harris lauded Vietnam’s fast growth and rising position in the region and the world over, adding that he will revisit the country in the near future.

Meanwhile, Minister Brantley stated that Saint Kitts and Nevis wants to beef up ties with Vietnam in tourism and agriculture.

Both sides agreed that their bilateral cooperation potential remains extensive and hoped for further expansion of their partnership in the future.

They said they will boost engagements at international forums and multilateral organisations of which both nations take part and agreed to soon sign an agreement on visa exemptions for diplomatic and official passport holders in a bid to facilitate bilateral delegation exchanges, increase mutual understanding, and promote trade, investment and tourism.
