NDO – The comprehensive partnership between Vietnam and Argentina has seen new positive developments across all fields, notably the recent state visit to Vietnam made by Argentina’s President Mauricio Macri, an important milestone that has paved the way for further bilateral cooperation in the future, Vietnamese Ambassador to Argentina Dang Xuan Dung has said.

The diplomat made the statement while hosting an informal meeting with Argentinian agencies and organisations, as well as friends in the native country who have close bonds with Vietnam, in Buenos Aires on March 14, in order to pay tribute to their contributions to the friendship and the acceleration of relations between the two countries.

Dung emphasised that a series of important events in bilateral ties were successfully held in recent times, including activities marking 45 years of Vietnam-Argentina diplomatic relations (October 25, 1973-2018), the Vietnamese Film Week and the Vietnam Day in Buenos Aires, and the sixth session of the Vietnam-Argentina Intergovernmental Committee.

These events are vivid evidence of the increasingly strengthened and expanded ties between the two nations, he stated.

Furthermore, as a diplomatic agency concurrently accredited to Uruguay, the Vietnamese Embassy in Argentina also promoted many practical activities to tighten the Vietnam-Uruguay cohesive relations ties in 2018 as they marked 25 years of bilateral diplomatic ties, including the successful organisation of the first meeting of the Vietnam-Uruguay Joint Committee on Economic, Trade and Investment Cooperation, Dung said.

The ambassador voiced his belief that he would continue to receive enthusiastic support and close cooperation from the authorities and friends in the native country in order to continue facilitating the Vietnam-Argentina relations in a more pragmatic and comprehensive manner, as well as promoting ties with the two concurrently accredited countries in the region, Uruguay and Paraguay.

The representative of Argentina’s Foreign Ministry highly appreciated the development of relations between the two countries in recent times, affirming that Vietnam is one of Argentina’s most important trade partners in Asia.

The Argentinian side emphasised its commitment to promoting and gradually elevating the cooperation with Vietnam in both bilateral and multilateral issues.
