NDO – The Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee cabled a message of congratulations to the Standing Board of the Cambodian People’s Party (CPP) Central Committee on November 9, while Party General Secretary and President Nguyen Phu Trong sent a congratulatory letter to Cambodian King Norodom Sihamoni on the occasion of the 65th anniversary of Cambodia’s Independence Day (November 9, 1953-2018).

On the same day, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc extended his congratulations to his Cambodian counterpart Samdech Techo Hun Sen, while Chairwoman of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan sent a letter of congratulations to President of the Cambodian Senate Samdech Say Chhum and President of the National Assembly of Cambodia, Samdech Heng Samrin.

In the letters and messages of congratulations, the CPV Central Committee and the Vietnamese leaders congratulated Cambodia on the significant socio-economic development achievements that the country has attained during the past 65 years, especially its successful organisation of the sixth general election in 2018 to form the new National Assembly and Government. They expressed their belief that under the wise reign of King Norodom Sihamoni and the bright leadership of the Senate, National Assembly and Royal Government of Cambodia, the Cambodian people would continue to achieve more significant and comprehensive accomplishments in the cause of developing the Kingdom of Cambodia in a peaceful and prosperous manner, with an increasingly high position within the international arena.

The Vietnamese Party and State firmly believe that with the motto of good neighbourliness, traditional friendship, and comprehensive, sustainable and long-term cooperation, the inherently fine relations between Vietnam and Cambodia will continue to thrive, for the interests of the two countries’ people and for peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world.

On the occasion, Deputy PM and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh extended his congratulations to Cambodian Deputy PM and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Prak Sokhonn.
