Vietnam, Laos enhance cooperation in information, technology and communications

NDO – The Vietnamese Ministry of Information and Communications, in collaboration with the Lao Ministry of Posts and Telematics, held the Vietnam – Laos Information, Technology and Communications Cooperation Forum in the Lao capital of Vientiane, on November 2.

The event was attended by the Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Hoang Vinh Bao, the Lao Deputy Minister of Posts and Telematics Thongsay Xanexaya, and Vietnamese Ambassador to Laos Nguyen Ba Hung.

Speaking at the forum, two Deputy Ministers affirmed that the forum provided a good opportunity for Vietnamese post, telecommunications, and information and technology enterprises to gain access to new investment projects in Laos.

In addition, the event is expected to support the enterprises from both countries in seeking and enhancing their cooperation within this field in the future.

At the forum, representatives from the Lao Ministry of Posts and Telematics shared information on the policies related to the information, technology and communication infrastructure in order to attract more investment from Vietnam.

The Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications (VNPT) Group introduced the strengths and potential in cooperation with the Lao partners. The joint venture between Vietnam and Laos, Star Telecom Company, presented their capacity and groups of products related to the Government and enterprises, as well as those on health, education, transport and power.

As part of the forum, the leaders of the two ministries witnessed the signing ceremony of cooperation deals between VNPT and the Lao Telecom Company; between Vietnam Post and Lao Posts; and between Vietnamese Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology and the Information and Communication Technology Academy of Laos.
